What are the benefits of a diverse and inclusive PLN in social media sharing that understands where you are coming from with messaging that impacts the community?
Diverse and inclusive PLN has many benefits to both the audience and the creator of the work. A diverse PLN will attract more and more audiences from various backgrounds and encourage sharing of different views among the group. We have the nature of curiosity, and an inclusive PLN will bring diverse new things to our network. By having a diverse PLN, we are continuously learning knowledge and experience from others and exchanging our knowledge with others as well. By increasing audiences’ attention, the creator is able to express himself to the public and attract people who share the same argument on any public issues, which may enhance the influence on the society and public.
Consider the audiences and how we adapt our messaging accordingly.
We change the way of expressing the message to fit audience preference. If the audience prefers image or video over plain text blogs then we will insert more multimedia content into our blogs. Changing the way of expressing messages will be more likely to keep audiences attention to the content and facilitate the delivery of information. Besides the media of delivering messages, the content of the message is important as well. We need to consider what type of information will interest the audience. For example, if the audience is more interested in political issues, we will consider posting information gathered from political news and blend in with our own idea. Consider the audiences when creating the post and or delivering a message will allow the post to have more influences and attract audiences from the public.
Our guest – Markiel Simpson
Markiel Simpson formed his diverse PLN and use it to convey his idea and raise important political issues in the public. He uses PLN to build connections with other people who share the same opinion as him. His idea of everyone can make a difference is impressive. By expanding PLN and networking with people from different backgrounds either on social media or in community alliances, Simpson is able to make an influence in public and lead people to support indigenous black in BC.
